Council of Korean Americans
2019 Empower Summit
For the past five years, the Council of Korean Americans (CKA) have assembled top Korean American thought leaders, opinion-makers, and innovators across the country to discuss important issues that shape the Korean American community.
On November 1-2, 2019, CKA welcomed over 400 current and emerging leaders to attend its inaugural Empower Summit in Washington, DC. It was a groundbreaking opportunity to connect with and listen to Korean American leaders from across multiple sectors. We discussed how to break the Bamboo Ceiling, empower Korean American women leaders, destigmatize mental health, elect Korean American leaders to public office, promote diversity in the workplace, and elevate Korean Americans in the arts and in sports.
This year’s Empower Summit featured high-profile leaders from vastly diverse fields: innovative entrepreneurs, finance executives, top policy-makers, talented musicians and artists, technology leaders, humanitarian leaders, and more. The summit also included an opening & closing reception, plenary sessions, group breakout sessions, and an Emerging Leaders Program.
